Renewable Capacity Statistics 2016

March 2016
ISBN : 978-92-95111-83-7

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) produces comprehensive renewable energy statistics on a range of topics. This publication presents renewable power generation capacity statistics for the last decade (2006-2015).

Renewable power generation capacity is measured as the maximum net generating capacity of power plants and other installations that use renewable energy sources to produce electricity. For most countries and technologies, the data reflects the capacity installed and connected at the end of the calendar year. Data has been obtained from a variety of sources, including the IRENA questionnaire, official national statistics, industry association reports, other reports and news articles. IRENA gratefully acknowledges the support of national correspondents, the Global Wind Energy Council, the Geothermal Energy Association and IEA-PVPS for their help in compiling this dataset.

A summary of recent developments in renewable power generation capacity can be found here.

The complete dataset from the year 2000 onwards is available for download on IRENA’s knowledge portal: http://resourceirena.irena.org.
