Renewable Energy Zoning in the Southern African Power Pool Region
IRENA, together with the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) Secretariat organised a regional workshop on Renewable Energy Zoning for the Southern African Power Pool countries from 6 to 8 October 2014. The objective of the workshop was to validate the Renewable Energy Zoning methodology, developed by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and IRENA.
The workshop was attended by SAPP member country representatives from power utilities, ministries responsible for energy, regulatory authorities and research institutes as well as the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat, SAPP Secretariat, Regional Electricity Regulators Association of southern Africa (RERA), as well the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of South Africa.
