Marrakesh Partnership for Global Climate Action: Energy Day

Energy Day at COP23 told the story of the ongoing energy transformation, showcasing success stories, taking stock of commitments made, and offering recommendations on the way forward. Participants shared their visions for the future of energy; companies described why they are going 100% renewable; leaders of energy efficiency initiatives demonstrated the business case for their work; state, region and city leaders discussed ambitious climate and clean energy policies; and industry leaders showcased innovation and breakthroughs in their fields. Speakers also identified obstacles and challenges, and the means to overcome them.

Energy Day events:

10:00 - 11:30 - The State of Play - Leaders in low carbon solutions, disparate geographies and civil society discuss their energy transition journeys.

11:30 - 13:00 - Enabling Change - Participants illustrated through real-life examples the multiple benefits and challenges that energy transformation brings for growth, social inclusion, jobs, and wider environmental objectives.

14:00 - 16:00 - Catalysing Action - Participants discussed energy transition pathways and business models across geographies, technologies and sectors.

16:15 - 17:30 - Accelerating Progress - In order to accelerate progress, actionable measures were identified by participants and implementation steps to be taken in 2018 and by 2020 were discussed.
