International Roundtable on the Development of Renewable Energy in Turkmenistan
On 1 August 2019, the international roundtable on renewable energy was held in Ashgabat. Representatives of a number of ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, including Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Agriculture and Nature Protection took part in the roundtable. The roundtable was attended by experts of IRENA, OSCE, UNDP and the World Bank.
The presentations of speakers covered aspects relating to the process of drafting a roadmap for renewable energy development to 2030, as well as implementation of renewable energy in cooperation with international organizations and donors. The participants discussed potential options for improving the legal environment and engaging private sector developers in renewable energy.
Turkmenistan became a full member of the IRENA in October 2018.
