Project Finance Matchmaking event at ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum 2019

The ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) is a major regional energy event that convenes policymakers, utilities, national energy planners, renewable energy developers, financiers, service providers, and development banks and agencies. At the forum, IRENA co-organised a workshop on project facilitation and business to business matchmaking event for developers, service providers and financiers.

The B2B event convened finance and project development professionals in the region to meet, share ideas and take concrete steps on viable projects identified as needing support. The event connected developers to project finance providers and experts, while also offering them insights on project development, risk mitigation instruments and other issues essential to the successful financing of their projects.

IRENA engaged experts from project development companies, financial institutions, service providers and development institutions to interact and discuss their business requirements, financial and risk management offerings, and service offerings to support various renewable energy technologies and business models. Renewable energy developers pitched their investment cases to targeted private financiers and the private arms of the multi-lateral institutions.
