The Director-General attended Energy for All: Financing Access for the Poor, a conference co-organised by Norway and the International Energy Agency (IEA), in Oslo, Norway, 10-11 October, 2011. Mr. Amin was a panelist on one of the conference’s special sessions.

The conference, attended by speakers and participants from more than 70 countries, including heads of state, energy ministers, UN officials and CEOs of energy companies, was part of Norway’s move to establish an international energy and climate initiative that increases access to energy services and limits green house gas emissions in developing countries.

The opening of the conference was attended by Norway’s HRH Crown Prince Haakon and heard opening addresses from Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Five partner countries from the Norway-led initiative – Brazil, Ethiopia, India, Liberia and South Africa – presented country perspectives.
