Investment in renewable energy today would meet four key imperatives for development of the global South: financial viability, energy access, energy security and sustainability, said IRENA Director-General Adnan Z Amin.

“Over the next generation, we need to undertake a massive investment in energy in Southern countries, in ways appropriate for their specific challenges,” he said. “And we need to make the best choice for the sustainability of the Earth.” Mr Amin made the remarks at the Global South-South Development Expo in Vienna, 19 November 2012.
