Matchmaking Forum at the Climate Finance Week for the Caribbean and Central America

The Climate Finance Week for the Caribbean and Central America has been planned as a regional workshop by multiple agencies including The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the EU TA program GET.Invest/Finance Catalyst and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN). The Climate Finance Week is targeted to enhance the dialogue on financing renewable energy in the region among policymakers, utilities, national energy planners, RE developers, financiers, service providers and development banks and agencies.

Matchmaking day within the Climate Finance Week will include a facilitation and business to business (B2B) matchmaking event for developers, service providers and financiers. The B2B event will convene finance and project development professionals in the region to meet, share ideas and take concrete steps on viable projects identified as needing support.

The event will connect developers to project finance providers and experts, while also offering them insights on project development, risk mitigation instruments and other issues essential to the successful financing of their projects. Around 10 pre-selected renewable energy developers will pitch their investment cases to targeted financiers and the private arms of the multi-lateral institutions. The discussion and event format will transition towards bilateral dialogues and more intense consultations between renewable energy developers and interested financiers. The event will enhance networking opportunities for participants at the Climate Finance Week, promote advanced discussions between developers and financiers, introduce opportunities to access IRENA platforms and services, with the expectation that project financing discussions are taken further as a result of the event.
